A family legacy of excellence since 1860
The Lemaire family has been cultivating vineyards in Hautvillers since 1860.
In 1945, Roger-Constant founded the Maison that now bears his name, guided by the conviction that each wine should reflect the identity of its terroir.
Since then, several generations have succeeded one another, passing down a passion for the vine and a commitment to precise craftsmanship, always with respect for nature and Champagne traditions.

A family story…
Discover the significance of each generation over the years — who they were and the mark they left in creating this unique heritage.

The 1st generation
Désiré Lemaire
A gardener and a poet, Désiré Lemaire was the first to believe in this terroir.
It was in Hautvillers, the historic birthplace of Champagne, that he acquired his first lands and laid the foundations of a family adventure destined to endure.

The 2nd generation
Maurice Lemaire
His son, Maurice, chose to become a winemaker.
He expanded the estate by acquiring new plots and devoted himself to grape production, thereby consolidating his father’s legacy.

The 3rd generation
Roger-Constant Lemaire
Visionary and passionate, Roger-Constant marked a decisive turning point.
Trained at Moët & Chandon, where he worked for nine years, he developed a unique expertise, complemented by a renowned oenologist.
In 1945, driven by the desire to create his own style, he set out on his own to establish his Maison and craft his first champagnes.
He proved to be a pioneer in diversifying the cuvées.
The 4th Generation
Gilles Tournant et Brigitte Lemaire
Brigitte, daughter of Roger-Constant, and Gilles, himself the son of a winemaker, expanded the estate to 12 hectares.
Trained by Roger-Constant, Gilles, from the 2000s onward, gave the Maison a new direction by choosing to forgo malolactic fermentation — a bold decision that would define the identity of our cuvées.

The 5th generation
Guillaume et Sébastien Tournant-Lemaire
Today, the fifth generation, children of Gilles and Brigitte, continue the family journey.
Guillaume, a winemaker since 2012, diligently ensures that traditions are upheld while preparing for the future.
Alongside him, his brother Sébastien, Export Director and Co-Manager, promotes the Roger-Constant Lemaire name across the globe.
Together, they embody the union of loyalty to the terroir and openness to the international stage.
